About Coast to Mountains Preparatory Academy (CM Prep)

CM Prep is an online private school serving families across North Carolina, offering a supportive, engaging, and academically rigorous learning environment for students in elementary, middle, and high school.

Founded to meet the needs of families seeking both structure and flexibility, CM Prep provides full-time enrollment with live, virtual classes taught by licensed teachers in small class settings. Our school culture emphasizes strong relationships, individualized academic support, and opportunities for students to explore their interests through clubs, social activities, and career-focused pathways.

As an approved North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship and ESA+ school, we partner closely with families to make high-quality private education accessible while preparing students for college, careers, and life beyond graduation. 

Admissions and Enrollment Information

Eligibility

• Students must be residents of North Carolina and meet the state’s and CM Prep’s age requirements for admission. All state-required health and immunization records must be provided.
• A parent or guardian must approve the request to enroll in the virtual academy option.

• Beginning in 3rd grade, students can take elective courses.
• In addition to core courses, students can take career-focused classes to explore their options in high-demand fields, including: business; education & training; information technology; art, audiovisual, and communication; digital design; and hospitality and human services.

• Students interact with their peers in weekly homeroom sessions and course discussions.
• Many weekly clubs to choose from led by CM Prep teachers and hosted by K12 (Minecraft Art, LEGO, etc.), including a high-ranking esports team.

• Virtual Socialization: Students can connect with peers through games and other activities in our online hangout zone, monitored by teachers.
